WELDING AND HARDFACING

Želvoz is fully equipped, in terms of both equipment and staff, for welding and hardfacing, and can provide welding services to the mechanical engineering industry for structural steels with material thicknesses from 3 mm up to 24 mm.

Welding processes offered by Želvoz:

  • MIG/MAG wire welding
  • Manual metal arc (MMA) welding with electrodes
  • Submerged arc welding
  • Electric resistance welding (up to 50 mm in diameter)

For all of these processes Želvoz 026 has certified welders as well as adequate equipment for welding and for inspecting welded joints.
Želvoz also has a number of qualified welding procedures, the 3834-2 standard and all the technical inspection infrastructure needed to monitor the welding process.
For the repair and restoration of worn parts, Želvoz has the equipment and staff for so-called build-up welding, i.e. depositing a layer of filler material of the required thickness so that worn parts can be restored to their original condition after machining.

This is most commonly used for the following parts:

  • Hardfacing and machining of tyres for wagon wheels
  • Hardfacing and machining of crane wheels
  • Hardfacing and machining of rolls for bending sheets of various thicknesses
  • Hardfacing and machining of all other wheels except monobloc wheels for rail vehicles

For these operations Želvoz has the following machines and equipment:

  • Schlatter machine for resistance welding of bar stock up to 50 mm in diameter
  • Several MIG/MAG welding machines
  • Semi-automatic submerged arc machine for hardfacing wheels, rolls and other parts
