ABOUT US
The Želvoz factory has a hundred-year tradition. It was founded in 1917 as a workshop for the repair of railway vehicles.
Immediately after World War II, the factory continued to develop under the name “Heroj Srba”.
In the 1960s, ŽELVOZ grew into the largest railway vehicle overhaul company in the former Yugoslavia.
To this day, no other company in the Balkans and Southern Europe has such a long tradition or better and larger infrastructure for the manufacture and overhaul of all types of rail vehicles.
Since June 2017, Želvoz has been a 100% privately owned company operating under the name ŽELVOZ.
The factory is located in the industrial zone of the city, between the Jezava and the Danube, and is well connected by transport routes - the Smederevo - Mala Krsna railway and the M24 road, which links Smederevo with southern Banat across the Danube bridge, as well as with Požarevac, Velika Plana and Belgrade. The old Constantinople Road connects it further with all other centres via the Belgrade - Niš motorway, while river transport runs through the port on the Danube.
The distance to Belgrade is 49 km, to the Mala Krsna railway junction 15 km and to the port of Smederevo 5 km.
